iMOVE (International Marketing of Vocational Education) is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to promote the export of German vocational training and continuing education.
iMOVE supports German providers of vocational training and continuing education with an extensive range of services to help them tap into and develop international markets. iMOVE promotes German expertise in vocational training and continuing education under the "Training – Made in Germany" brand.
As the globalisation trend continues, Africa is becoming increasingly interesting as an economic partner for German companies. A sound basic education and practically oriented vocational training of the young African population are needed to capitalise on economic potential and thus also to expand international economic ties.
To help reach this goal, iMOVE organised the first Information Day Africa with numerous experts from industry and training and educational institutions on 8 October 2009 with the Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft e.V. (German-African Business Association). Eddie Funde, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa at the time, underscored the great importance ascribed to this area by the African side.
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, iMOVE hosted a roundtable event on "Skills Development" from 8 to 9 March 2010. Dr. Bonginkosi Nzimande, South African Minister of Higher Education and Training, participated in the event along with Eddie Funde and nine high-ranking representatives from South Africa.
iMOVE published a market study on South Africa for the export of vocational training and continuing education in December 2010. Detailed contact information for the relevant government offices, institutions and association in South Africa supplement the information on the education system.
